How it works

What you see is what you print

A laptop showing a 3D model, with a 3D printer and colourful prints on a white desk

Design

Pick a maker, add your photo or text and adjust it. The 3D preview updates as you go.

Download

Click Download STL. The model is built in your browser and already placed the right way up for printing.

Print

Open the STL in your slicer and print. Each maker tells you the layer height, and when to change filament for more colours.

Lithophanes

Your photo, glowing

A lithophane is a thin white print with your photo in it. In daylight you see a relief, but as soon as light shines through it your photo appears, sharp and warm. A personal gift that stands out.

What you need

Any FDM printer and some PLA

The models are made for a standard 0.4 mm nozzle. Every maker shows the settings that give the best result.

0.4 mmnozzle
0.20 mmlayers for cases and name tags
0.12 mmlayers for lithophanes
White PLAfor lithophanes and lamp shades

PLA softens in heat. Don't leave your prints in a hot car or in full sun.

FAQ

Good to know

Does it cost anything?

No. Designing and downloading are free, and you don't need an account.

What happens to my photos?

Nothing leaves your device. Your photo is turned into a 3D model right in your browser, and we never upload or store it.

Which phones do you have cases for?

Every iPhone from the iPhone 12 mini to the iPhone 18 Pro Max: the mini, Plus, Pro, Pro Max, e and Air models too, and the iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation). The sizes come from Apple's official drawings. Choose your model carefully: a case only fits that exact phone.

Can I sell prints of the free models?

The free models are for personal use (CC BY-NC 4.0): print them, change them and share them with credit to Shapekit, but please don't sell the files or the prints.

How do I print in colour on a single-colour printer?

Choose filament swaps in the maker. It tells you at which layers to add a pause (filament change) in your slicer. When the printer pauses, swap the filament and resume. With a multi-colour printer (such as a Bambu AMS or Prusa MMU) you choose multi-colour printer instead: you get one STL per colour and your slicer prints them in one go.

Can I turn any photo into an STL?

Yes, with Photo to STL. Choose a shape, size and up to eight filaments. On any printer the photo is built up from thin layers that you swap a few times (we tell you at which layers); on a multi-colour printer you get one STL per colour. With one filament it becomes a relief.

Which photo works best?

A sharp photo with clear contrast and a calm background, like a portrait. Tiny details and very dark photos come out less well. The preview shows you how it will look.
